To-Build List: Startup Ideas For 2012

This weekend we read Jude Gomila’s thoughtful list of 25 startup ideas for 2012. Some of his ideas demand ambitious engineering projects, others fill a niche in the online consumer landscape. Here’s our take on a handful that piqued our interest:
Build an educational learning platform
The time is ripe to disrupt education. We agree with Jude: There’s great potential in taking the concepts of Codeacademy, Skillshare and Kahn Academy and applying them to general learning areas outside of programming. Something tells us this is in the works…
Build a Y Combinator of biology
As Jude says, this space is 100% open right now.
Build an Etsy for Intellectual property
The Internet is bursting with great ideas without a home. Interesting to imagine a marketplace for ideas or completed works where people can bid on “handcrafted” intellectual property.
Build a better Wikipedia
Imagine a platform that organizes lots of content for optimal consumption. Adding Quora, YouTube, Twitter etc to Wikipedia’s rich articles, but with clean design and thoughtful placement. We’d read it.
